C J OBASI'S OJUJU AND STEPHANIE LINUS' DRY TO PREMIERE AT (AIM) AFRICA IN MOTION SCOTLAND

OJUJUposterCJ-nollywooduncut

Africa in Motion (AIM) is Scotland's annual celebration of African cinema, and is returning this year to bring audiences quality cinema from the African continent. As part of this year's programme the festival will be hosting a Nigerian-Scottish Film Odyssey, supported by the British Council.

The Nigerian-Scottish Film Odyssey will explore the similarities and differences between independent filmmaking in both countries, looking at funding opportunities, production, distribution and storytelling practices.

Premieres will showcase the latest films from two young Nollywood filmmakers; C.J. Obasi, who will present his zombie horror film, Ojuju; and Stephanie Linus, who will premiere her new film Dry. During their time in Scotland these filmmakers will also have the opportunity to meet and engage with young filmmakers from Scotland and to participate in discussions with key industry stakeholders on the state of independent filmmaking, including production, funding and distribution. These discussions will then feed into an industry day held at the Lighthouse, Glasgow, where leading professionals from both industries will engage with attendees on storytelling practices, audience development and production.

Audiences can get involved in the discussions and share their views in the lead-up to the industry day on Twitter using the designated hashtag #NollywoodOdyssey. As part of the project, Africa in Motion are working with the African Movie Channel to broadcast the industry day in over 14 countries in Africa and Europe in late November.
